I love the holiday that is February 14th.
Some of my most cherished memories are from Valentine's Day. I remember going out with my dad to buy my mom her Valentine gifts; I really enjoyed seeing love expressed so openly by so many people. When I became old enough to attend school, my love for this holiday grew immensly. Today I was reminded of the joy and happiness that is felt in an classroom.
When I woke up this morning it was like I was 5 years old once again. I was so excited to go to school. I was so happy and cheerful from the moment the clock struck Valentine's Day. When I arrived to school, I had forgotten how exciting this holiday is for children. Upon my arrival, so many kids came up to me and gave me hugs. They were so anxious to shower me in gifts! They were so excited to give me chocolate, candy and express their love! It was so exciting and heart warming. So many children wanted to hand out their gifts as soon as they saw their friends, they could not wait until their class party.
One of the students is a Jehovah's Witness and he left class before the party. All the other kids were sad to see him leave, they wanted him to stay. The rest of the class learned that Jehovah's Witnesses do not celebrate Valentine's Day and they were sad to see him go. So much so, that they all got up to give him a hug before he left class. Once the party arrived, they could not contain their excitement any longer. They wanted to share their love with notes, hearts, hugs and candy! Children are naturally so loving, but on Valentine's Day they radiate so much love that my heart can't take it. Its so wonderful. If only every one saw Valentine's Day the way children do.
